Orono - Some local girls got to learn a few hockey skills from the UMaine women's team.

It was all a part of the Adventure Girls Program, put on by Hardy Girls, Healthy Women.

The program aims to educate young ladies about non-traditional female careers.

These group of youngsters took a tour of the Alfond Arena and then did some floor hockey with the team.

"It's awesome. The girls have been a lot of fun and everyone has a lot of energy. Hopefully we can show them that they can do whatever they set their minds to and compete in sports when their older," said UMaine Hockey Player, Katy Massey.

"I had heard of a girl's hockey team but I hadn't really thought much about it," said Adventure Girl, Piper Charron.

All the girls say they had a blast with Saturday's event.
